Smith Grove Ruritan Club

Avery Foster

Avery Foster, known affectionately as "Mr. Avery," was a member of the Mocksville Police Department for 41 years. He became the first black deputy sheriff in North Carolina in 1954 and Mocksville Town Constable in 1965.
